Funding for Technology Creation

US R&D Expenditures

Specifically, below are the figures for the United States Extramural and Intramural Performers by State

New York, California and Florida account for 50% of intramural performer states. Meanwhile, extramural performers account for 73% of State R&D with California, Texas, New York and Florida being the major extramural R&D performers.

Note: State R&D expenditures do not include R&D plant.

Intramural performers involve Federal Government agencies. Extramural performers included academic institutions, companies, and individuals not belonging to the Federal sector but performing R&D with the use of Federal funds either through a contract, a grant, or a cooperative agreement.
